Since children are learning to be adults at this level. Give them the latitude to direct their own highschool education. Guidance is part of the process but DO NOT be a micro manager. Keep Records of EVERY activity I can not stress the EVERY enough. Categorize even chores and the television programs they watch if they relate to the subject the child is studying! My DD would freeze cartoons to sketch the characters for her cinematography course. She wrote her own episodes and story boarded them. I was unaware that she was using the Cartoon to learn until I snatched her sketchbook one weekend while she was at her grand parents! (She is allowed to grab my "projects" and read them too as long as I don't see her do it.... generally its the reaction people have not the information that causes bad feeling. As long as it works both ways i think its fine) The point is you don't know what there learning so log it and figure it out later! Think of the Scientific advancements that came from the writings of Jules Verne a science Fiction writer of days gone by.

Grade 7 and Up..... through College and Adult Learning

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

Homeschoolers DO NOT NEED grade levels beyond 6th grade! When you cover World History and Basic Science go take the CLEP TEST for these. A good score on the test gets you college credits in most colleges. These multiple choice tests are easy once you have a solid understanding of the materials covered!

General Clep information

Study outlines

Although I have links for each subject here you definitely want to go to the subject page. When you design your own courses you will want to use materials without regard to grade level. Make sure your "primary" textbook is at or above your grade level secondary materials can be any grade level in fact I don't even list the grade level in Homeschool Tracker I just the Title and ISBN

General Tools These may have complete courses or just a week long lessons or even 1 day lesson!

YMI TEACHING

Free ED Has Dozens of free courses for grade 7 and up through Adult Learners. Every subject is covered here.

MIT free courses

PASS TEXTBOOKS These cover almost every subject. I have these already put into Homeschool Tracker Plus Lesson Plan Format if you would Like. List these as secondary textbooks since they were originally created to be for students with learning issues but the State of Florida now uses them for all students.  If you are doing your own diploma this is fine as a primary text because you transcript will not show what materials you used but if you are using a private school like NARHS to get your diploma they will only let this be a primary text if the student is Learning disabled.

Hoagies Has another great collection of High school Textbooks! Take A look!
